Serviced Apartments Gain Popularity in Australia

The popularity of serviced apartments is booming in Australia. This is shown by the recent investment in the serviced apartment market.

Around 450 new serviced apartments are being built on the Gold Coast this year whilst a number of others were opened in quarter 1.

According to analysts, the popularity of serviced apartments is increasing because people travelling with work are keen to find a home from home.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics says that the latest figures suggest that these people are more likely to choose to stay in a serviced apartment than in a hotel as a result.

The country’s largest serviced apartment company has experienced a 40% increase in apartment occupancy over the last five years.

This statistic contrasts strikingly with hotel bookings figures. Over the last five years, hotel room occupancy has only increased by around 9%.

So in what way do serviced apartments offer a home from home?

Unlike staying in a hotel which normally means that you only have a bedroom and bathroom, serviced apartments offer space and the chance to spread out. Alongside bedrooms, serviced apartments also have bathrooms, fully fitted kitchens and living rooms.

Having your own kitchen means that you do not have to rely on the hotel restaurant or room service for food. Instead, you can cook what you want, when you want. As a result serviced apartments offer much greater flexibility than hotels.

In a hotel if you want to leave your bedroom and read a newspaper you have to use one of the public rooms. This means that you are surrounded by other people and cannot totally relax. However, serviced apartments offer greater privacy. You can sit in your living room, kick your shoes off and put your feet on the sofa without worrying what other people will think. As such serviced apartments offer the perfect balance of privacy and space.
